Hotel Kakslauttanen is located in the Saariselkä fell area amidst beautiful Lapland scenery in the vicinity if Urho Kekkonen National Park. We enjoy excellent connections – Highway 4 is nearby and all scheduled buses drive right up to the hotel and Ivalo airport is just 35 kilometers away with a bus transfer straight to the hotel front-door.

We have 40 first-class log cabins, out of which five are queen suites, one honeymoon turfchamber and one traditional Lappish farmer log house. The cabins come in different sizes, accommodating from 2 up to 10 persons. The whole village - cabins, restaurant and saunas, are hand made of rare dead standing pine, kelo.

Log cabin
Each cabin is equipped with a fireplace, shower/toilet, kitchenette, own sauna and some cabins have a traditional Finnish rocking chair. The cabins are located sufficiently far apart so that each one has its own peaceful garden area.

Queen Suite
Spacious and modern with a charming touch, Queen Suite will satisfy the needs of the most demanding guests. In addition to the standard equipment found in a standard log cabin, Queen Suite features a luxurious bath room and an outside hot tube.

Honeymoon Turf Chamber
Honeymoon Turf Chamber has been built in a traditional way using stripped birch covered with a half-meter layer of turf providing extreme warmness even in a harshest winter. Equipped a cozy bedroom with a fireplace and a Las Vegas-style bathroom featuring a glowing stars ceiling with the Pole Star located right over the bathtub. The Finnish sauna is naturally present too. The bathroom bears the mark of Versace, while the bedroom is by Fagun of Finland.

Glass igloo
Glass igloo provides an one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights and millions of stars of the crystal clear sky in a comfortable room temperature. Built from a special thermal glass the temperature inside the igloo always stays a normal level. It also prevents the glass from not getting white frosted, hence keeping the view clear even when the temperature outside drops to under -30°C. Every igloo is equipped with a toilet and luxury beds.

Snow igloo
Built entirely out of snow, snow igloo is the perfect setting for an unforgettable experience. The temperature inside a snow igloo always stays between -3°C and -6°C. Besides warm (rated extreme temperature is -32°C) down sleeping bag, we provide you woolen socks and hood, so that you will never feel cold. The snow igloos are for 1-5 persons.

Our newest attraction is Santa’s Resort, home to Santa Claus all year around. The resort includes Santa’s House, a tower bridge over the Gold Creek and the Smith Elf forge. In summer you can pan for gold under directions of our Elves. In winter you can drive a reindeer-drawn sledge or sled down the nearby hill.

In the winter time we offer husky safaris, snowmobile safaris, reindeer safaris and ice-fishing trips as well as guided ski treks. The Saariselkä ski trail network of over 180km passes right by the hotel. You can rent cross country skis from the hotel. Saariselkä ski slopes are just 10 km from the hotel and regular bus transportation is arranged between the hotel and the slopes. Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) are visible from late August to late April. You may also visit Sampo ice-breaker, the only ice-breaker in the world open to tourists.

On summer we offer boat trips to river Lemmenjoki, fishing at lake Inari, sightseeing trips to Utsjoki and Midnight Sun trips to Kaunispää fell. You can also visit Tankavaara Gold Village and try your luck in gold panning. We offer excellent hiking possibilities in the national park with some of the trails starting just from the hotel yard. If you want to go further you can rent a bicycle from the hotel. Midnight sun shines for two months and the nights are bright from May to the end of August.
