Great Fosters is a Grade One listed building set amongst 50 acres of stunning gardens and parkland in Egham, Surrey. Immaculately preserved, this stately historic monument boasts an enviable location close to Heathrow, the M25 and M4 and near Windsor, Wentworth, Staines and Virginia Water. This luxury romantic hotel in Surrey provides the perfect setting for a wedding with infinite opportunities for stunning photographs. The hotel is a historic wedding venue, offering a choice of private rooms including a 14th century Tithe Barn. It also has a licence for outside ceremonies to be conducted on the lawn by the Saxon moat.

At Great Fosters, our collection of 56 suites and bedrooms are all individually styled, with some boasting grand four-poster beds, and others sprinkled with ornate trinkets that have been collected over the years. The main house, which dates back to 1550, features a selection of beautiful historic suites and bedrooms, ideal for a memorable romantic escape, whilst The Cloisters and The Coach House offer a tempting array of suites and rooms.
Our rooms at Great Fosters are defined by their style, character and size. From our charming `Cosy` rooms, to our larger `Comfy Kings`, either in the Coach House & Cloisters or the Main House, and finally our Luxury Super King rooms in the Dower House or Coach House, all are luxurious havens, complete with fine linen, Temple Spa amenities and our signature Great Fosters robes. All of our bedrooms in the Coach House benefit from air conditioning. For larger and more luxurious rooms still, take a look at our Suites & Historic Suites.

Our Comfy King Rooms are all found in the Cloisters and the Coach House, a walk of moments from the Main House and along the charming ornamental herb garden by the Dower House. In the Cloisters, you can expect light and airy rooms with a mix of the old & new, whilst in the Coach House a more contemporary design awaits, with bold chartreuse striped fabrics and monochrome bathrooms. All rooms feature a desk and separate armchairs, with most overlooking the pretty Cloisters garden. These rooms range from 16 - 19m2 and either have walk-in showers or a bath with a shower over the top and many can accommodate dogs too.

Our Luxury Super King Rooms are located in the Coach House and Dower House, a brief stroll from the Main House, with views onto the private Coach House gardens or the ornamental garden. In the Coach House, the rooms are approx 27m², with a contemporary feel from the bold block colour fabrics and sleek finish, whilst the Dower House rooms feature vibrant print fabrics, natural materials and more a traditional feel. Most have sofas and all have armchairs and desks. The Luxury Rooms in the Dower House can accommodate dogs - please ask when booking.
In the Coach House, `Staines` and `Datchet` offer an interconnecting pair, perfect for family groups. Many of our Luxury Super King Rooms can accommodate an extra bed for one child.

Our Spacious and Splendid Suites are arranged between the Cloisters, Coach House, Dower House and Main House respectively. In our Spacious Suites, you can expect an open-plan suite, with a separate lounge space decorated in a light, fresh palate in the Cloisters (which are also pet-friendly), whilst in the Coach House, they are on the 1st floor and feature striking botanical print wall coverings. Our Splendid Historic Suites in the Dower House and Main House are slightly cosier than their Cloisters cousins, but are rich with historic features and quirks and enjoy the grandeur and charm of the original buildings. The Coach House Spacious Suites also offer interconnecting options, ideal for families.

Reached at via the ornamental herb garden and peaceful Cloisters garden, our Spacious Super King Suites are light, airy and open-plan. They are spread across The Cloisters and 1st floor of The Coach House. Each features a lounge area, complete with coffee table and sofa, and a handmade Super King bed. Most of the suites have high ceilings, giving them a sense of space, and are furnished with light pastels or our signature wallpapers and Scandinavian-influenced features. Each is 31m² - 35m² and either have a bath with separate shower or a walk in shower.

Our Historic Splendid Suites are spread across The Dower House and Main House. They`re charming & luxurious and include many reminders of the rich legacy of Great Fosters. From fireplaces to hidden bathrooms, expect to be delighted with the sense of history in these special rooms, some with views across the gardens, and some with views over the grand approach to the hotel. These rooms are 25 - 28m² with two rooms having a shower over a bathtub and the `Corridor`, Hillingdon & Clarence suites featuring a bath tub with separate shower.

Our luxurious historic named Suites are brimming with wondrous tales of the past. From 17th century Flemish tapestries adorning the walls, to intricately carved feature pieces dating back to Jacobean times and Grade I Listed wall features, you will feel like the Tudor royalty who once resided at Great Fosters in any one of The Historic Suites. When you book one of our Historic Named Suites, you can also enjoy our exclusive partnership with Bicester Village, offering you a VIP shopping experience - discover the details at the end of this page.

The Waterloo Suite is timelessly elegant, decorated in a blush and neutral palette, with delicate cow-parsley print wall coverings and a dreamy white four poster bed. The bedroom looks out over the terracotta rooftops of Great Fosters with views of the gardens, complete with a pretty balcony from which to enjoy the vista. The suite is complete with a separate dressing space and beautiful bathroom, with walk in drench shower and a glorious tub for two. The Waterloo Suite is set across 33m² and is on the upper floor of the Main House.
The Waterloo Suite can accommodate one extra bed for one child.

In Panel II, the flamboyant and modern touches accentuating the four-poster bed which is the main feature of this Suite are undeniable, and strike a stunning contrast to the panelling of the room. The panelling is of course the namesake of this Suite which is Grade I listed, dating back to the Tudor times. Panel II is 40m² and has views across the grand approach to the hotel.

The style of The Italian Suite may remind you of the flamboyance of a Jacques Garcia design. It does actually pre-date the eminent designer considerably and was conceived by W.H. Romaine-Walker and G.H. Jenkins who around 1910 were commissioned to extensively redevelop Great Fosters – and their work includes the design of this spectacular suite. Particularly famous are the quattrocento doors which the duo imported in 1912 – the entrance doors and doors to the bathroom, with fabulous murals on the front and intricate plasterwork on the reverse are exquisite. The Italian Suite is 36m2, and is positioned with views through the dappled light of the trees flanking the entrance to the hotel. A stay in the Italian Suite is truly a unique experience.

Each of the suites in the Dower House are named after other Dower Houses around England, with `Byfleet` being one. Byfleet Manor was catapulted to global fame by the television show, Downton Abbey, where it was featured as the home of the Dowager Countess of Grantham. The roots of Byfleet Manor can be traced back much further however, back to the 12th century where Edward II commissioned it as a Hunting Lodge which he gifted to his purported lover, Piers Gaveston. Our Byfleet Suite is on the 1st floor of the Dower House with views cross the Cloisters and the ancient roofline of Great Fosters. It spans 35m2, and features an eclectic selection of luxurious velvet furnishings, botanic patterns and a contemporary four-poster bed, contrasting with elegant heritage paints, leaded windows and other original features. The room includes a double vanity, free-standing bath tub and walk in drench shower, a dressing area and space to dine & lounge.

Each of the suites in the Dower House are named after other Dower Houses around England, with `Marlborough` being one. The Marlborough Suite, named after the imposing Marlborough House in London, occupies the eastern wing of the 1st floor with sweeping views across the sculpture lawn.
Marlborough House (1711), the famous mansion in St James’s, was designed by the equally famous architect of the time, Sir Christopher Wren. It was originally designed for Sarah Churchill, the Duchess of Marlborough and the ‘Favourite’ of Queen Anne and went on to be the London residence of the Dukes of Marlborough. In the 1960s, Queen Elizabeth II leased the property to the Commonwealth to serve as their headquarters.
It spans 45m2, and features an eclectic selection of luxurious velvet furnishings and botanic patterns, contrasting with elegant heritage paints, leaded windows and other original features. The room includes a double vanity, free-standing bath tub and walk in drench shower, a dressing area and space to dine & lounge.

The Duke of Wellington Suite is situated on the upper floor of the Main House, and is a traditional multi-room Suite with a twist. Expect bold Michael Northcroft furnishings and contemporary textured wall coverings contrasting with original rope detailing and a `hidden` bathroom, all with splendid views across the gardens. The Suite is 33m² and offers a contemporary experience.

The Queen Anne Suite takes its name from perhaps our most famous resident, Queen Anne Boleyn. Thought to have been used as some of her personal rooms, the Queen Anne Suite today is one of our most popular suites with spectacular views of the gardens and a beautiful four-poster bed. Set out across 49m2, it boasts a comfortable separate lounge, spacious four-poster bedroom and grand bathroom. It is certainly one of our finest suites and makes for a very special stay. The Queen Anne Suite can accommodate two extra beds for two children.

The hotel also provides a unique luxurious retreat for meetings and conferences located minutes from the M3 and M25, and conveniently near to Heathrow, Egham, Staines and Chertsey. Overlooking an historic walled garden, offering tranquil seclusion, The Coach House has been exclusively designed to combine state-of-the-art conference facilities with luxurious accommodation. The Oak Room restaurant offers gourmet cuisine and peerless service from a dedicated hospitality team, who ensure that any private or business occasion is a pleasure. The Cocktail Bar, Drawing Room and Terrace, which overlooks the estate, serve some of the most delicious light lunches and afternoon tea in Surrey.

The Oak Room has been converted into a beautiful and elegant restaurant infused with character. Graceful, exposed oak beams complement its refined, modern décor, and large mullioned windows illuminate the room with natural daylight.

Gardens
In 1918, the Hon Gerald Samuel Montagu purchased Great Fosters and commissioned the famous architect W H Romaine-Walker to convert the house to the Elizabethan design that it honours to this day. W H Romaine-Walker and Gilbert Jenkins worked together to establish the exceptional gardens, with their clipped yew hedges, knot garden and archery pavilion. Over the years, the grounds have been extended, restored and enhanced, but aside from their scenic and floral acclaim they also boast historical renown in their own right, with features such as the Drake sundial, which historians suggest may have been donated by Sir Francis Drake. Today the gardens offer a stunning setting for a romantic wedding and is an idyllic place for visitors to relax in privacy. They feature a Saxon moat with wisteria draped Japanese bridge leading to a sunken rose garden, grassed amphitheatre, four secret gardens and a lake.
