There are many beaches within easy reach of Kingston, too many to list but here are a few, there is also a list of Dog friendly beaches in each cottage. Blackpool Sands has a Venus Cafe and loos and is very beautiful, has a Blue Flag Award for cleanliness. Slapton Sands has a good car park and is ideal for doggie walks. Bantham Beach is very sandy and good for sandcastle making, Burgh Island has a portion of beach for dogs and at low tide you can walk out to the old pub on the island, if the tide is up there is an exciting ride to be had on the sea tractor to or from the island. On the mainland there is also a Venus Cafe who have won countless awards these are all approx 25mins drive.

Flares in the gardens on a Summer‘s evening, or roaring fires in the winter, candlelight and lovely flower arrangements in the Bride‘s colour scheme make the perfect setting. The Marble Hall is licensed for Civil Weddings and Civil Partnerships and can seat up to 50 people.

Wedding breakfasts can be either in the house (adult guests only), the Garden Suite or a Marquee in the gardens. In the house, we can accommodate up to 42 guests for a seated breakfast or up to 60 for a buffet, with dancing in the Hall afterwards. The Garden Suite can seat up to 100 and has a lovely oak floor for dancing, with sound system, and adjoining bar and buffet room. A marquee in the West Garden will seat up to 130 and can be connected by a covered walkway to the house, giving direct access to the Hall and other House reception rooms. A magical setting for parties, reunions, anniversaries and much more. Overnight accommodation for up to 42 people, delectable dining, excellent wine cellar and beautiful surroundings.

Kingston House has a choice of three exquisitly decorated and furnished en-suite period suites available on a per night basis, perfect for a weekend escape or romantic honeymoon. Kingston House is now widely regarded as being one of the finest surviving examples of early eighteenth century architecture in Britain today.

The Blue Suite
Formerly the master bedroom of the house, the Blue Suite is named for the dramatic Angel Tester bed hung with blue damask. Retaining the original panelling, wall murals and elaborate cornice, this is a one of a kind suite that is both romantic and extremely comfortable. Within the suite is the china closet where collections of porcelain and glass would have been displayed by John Rowe in the 1740’s. The original wall decoration depicting mythical birds and beasts has been uncovered and is a rare surviving example of decoration of the period. A small passage lined with paintings of lions rampant connects the bedroom to the bathroom where 17th century panelled walls create a cosy, cocooning environment for leisurely soaks in the large claw-footed bath. The room facilities are fresh flowers, sherry, fresh fruit, tea & coffee making, bottled Water, tissues and chocolates on turn down.

The Red Suite
As the name suggests, this bedroom is warmed by walls papered in russet-red damask with deep red window blinds and above the bed, original canopies made for the house in the 1830’s. Overlooking the formal parterre to the east and the south garden, the room is bathed in sunlight with outstanding views. The Red Room can be configured either as a twin or king-size double. The Red Suite has its own en-suite bathroom.

The Green Room
The fine light mahogany four poster bed was made for this bedroom in 1830 and is dressed with a seaweed patterned chintz that is an exact replica of the original fabric.
A polished linen press contains a wash closet and across the gallery, occupants of the Green Room have exclusive private use of the Blue Bathroom, the largest in the house with a splendid original bath that allows soaking whilst admiring the surrounding countryside. The walls of the bathroom retain the original marbleised wall treatment and above the fireplace, an 18th century vessel is painted, with a castle in the foreground. The Green Room has a separate private bathroom.
Kingston Estate’s accommodation are period buildings, many Grade II Listed and are a wonderful combination of a traditional countryside setting partnered with contemporary furnishings and modern facilities.

Kingston House is a fabulous option for those looking for something extra special, the elegant entrance hall sets the scene for the whole property with its stone floor, large fireplace leading to the main reception rooms. All of the rooms are as grand as you would expect from one of Devon's finest listed houses and each room in the house overlooks the whole estate, every view different but equally engaging.

All of our cottages are individual and have their own unique personality tailored to suit couples, families and groups, all designed with luxury in mind, sleeping from two to ten people. There are also dog friendly cottage with their own enclosed private gardens. We believe staying at Kingston Estate is an experience to cherish, perfect for exploring spectacular South Devon and creating a lifetime of memories.

The South Garden features on the East side of the garden, a pleached lime walk which is being grown as a feature of the main lawn area, whilst the other side of the garden begins with the wild flower garden, (a riot of primroses, snowdrops, narcissi, bluebells, pink campion, wild garlic, and wild daffodils in the spring beneath a broad chestnut tree). Walking towards the house, one passes the remains of a 17th century threshing barn, now part of the walled vegetable garden, with the doorway providing a tantalising glimpse of the formal design. The south aspect of the house is graced with the magnificent Wisteria Sinensis with Rosa Banksii resplendent in spring and an enormous yew hedge with an arch giving onto the formal Rose Garden, completing the symmetry of The South Garden.
The walled West Garden is neatly divided in two. One half being an open croquet lawn surrounded by flower beds and espalier trained fruit trees and climbing roses. The other is the formal Rose Garden with a small summer house from which to admire the collection of English roses on the long summer evenings.

Function rooms with a difference: The main function room is located within the charming self-contained Garden Suite and offers a modern, highly efficient environment with up to date technical equipment including a sound system, translation service, data projection and a dedicated catering facility. Smaller gatherings, events or board meetings can choose from three rooms within Kingston House, each with a very individual and unique character.
